Cities3D 0.8 now available

Cities3D 0.8 is now available for download. It has all of Cities & Knights completed, except for the playing of progress cards. That includes city walls, knights, city upgrades, barbarians, defender points, and even receiving progress cards (just not playing them).

In addition, I have also added game finder code, allowing you to host and find games just like you do with Sea3D!

IMPORTANT: Please note that the Connector code in Cities3D is temporary only and exists only to help players find games to test the game and find bugs. If you also happen to have fun while playing, well, that's up to you. :) You must realize, however, that 1) there is no ladder in Cities3D, 2) there are no quits or drops recorded, and 3) NOTHING IS RECORDED, you don't even register your name. It is a very, very simple and stripped down version of what exists in Sea3D that exists only to help you find other players to test play the game.

Follow the links on the Cities3D Project Homepage to see Release Notes, download the new version, and learn how to report bugs.

NOTE: You must uninstall any previous version of Cities3D, including removing player and game databases. If you don't do this, Cities3D 0.8 will crash on startup.

We are closing in on the prize. The only rules remaining to implement for Cities & Knights are the playing of progress cards, which will happen for version 0.9. I've got a lot of momentum going now on development so look for that by the end of November, at which point you will be able to play a full game of C&K, with all the rules!

One word... Cool :P.

You're a genius man. Keep up the good work. We're all greatful.

It is really fantastic seeing the progress like this. Keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for bringing us such a great game to the PC and for free. You rock.

Great work! This is exciting news.

Before it's too late to ask, I'd like to make a request for the 1.0 or 1.1 version. It would be great to have a way of knowing how I compare to all of the other people I've played against in the ladder. I often wonder when I'm playing against someone I play again and again how we compare. I understand that there would be user interface issues as the list could become unwieldy. Maybe a simple tag on that person's ladder page woyuld show how they have fared against you. (Wins, points?) Just an idea to make the overall experience more enjoyable.

I know I speak on behalf of MANY people when I say, "We appreciate all of your hard work!"

Seriously, where is the Linux build?

If there's not one available, at least please point to a source code or cvs/svn download.

Thanks

LOL.

Access to the source code has been in the Cities3D forum for, oh, two years. Good grief.
